IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER..........
SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN July 2-9, 2007
I didn't know what to expect from one of the few Canadian cities I had never been to. Well, I loved it. A fairly small, but nicely compact downtown, dominated by the beautiful Hotel Bessborough...like a castle on the river http://www.deltahotels.com/hotels/hotels.php?hotelId=8 The people, and the audiences, were so friendly, but what did I expect from the province that spawned My buddies Clive Cholerton and Joe Matheson? Did I mention the pubs? Winston's www.winstonspub.ca and O'shea's...no link. Awesome selection of beers, great service...and poutine!
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS Feb 12-18, 2007
Who knew? A lovely town, home to the University of Arkansas (Go Hogs!), and former home of Bill & Hillary. Lots of great cafes, restaurants, and shops in a really cute, hilly downtown setting. Nice theatre too.
Highlight: seeing hillbilly bluegrass band Big Smith (www.bigsmithband.com) at George's Majestic (www.georgesmajesticlounge.com). They were awesome!
AQ Chicken House (www.aqchicken.com): have the chicken 'over the coals'. Yum!
Beautiful Ozark setting, and the people were more than welcoming.
